The Slide Of Death

I forgot to post about one of the most popular activities at Girl’s Camp.  The girls would use this all day long.  I like to lovingly call it “The Slide Of Death”.

That building would be the lodge….and yup that’s a slide.  And yup….those are four flights of stairs that you have to hike up to get to the top of the slide.

And if you ask me, that would be a crazy person going down the slide.

I choose life.

A Three Week Visit Just Isn’t Long Enough

My favorite people in all of Philly came to Idaho for a visit!  They are so much fun and we just don’t get to see them often enough.  So, while they were here, we packed in as much family togetherness as we could.  We went for several rides on the four wheeler…

Even Grandpa took it our for a spin.

DSCN4290 We watched my Sister In Law, Anne get a makeover on the Nate Berkus show.  She’s pretty much famous now.  Shoot….I forgot to get her autograph!DSCN4260

We played and colored on cardboard boxes outside.  I don’t know why we’ve never thought of this before…the kids absolutely loved it!

We celebrated the fourth of July together….which involved lots of otter pops and of course, fireworks.

We visited a dairy and got to feed the calves.  They were adorable!  I would totally get one….if only they stayed so small and cute.

We were able to celebrate Emily’s Birthday!  She is the coolest youngest sister a girl could ask for! DSCN4555

And we spent many nights playing Monopoly Deal.  It’s addicting.  And it only takes about 20 minutes to play.  Total Win.

It just plain stinks only being able to hang out with them once a year, but I am so glad they make the effort to come out and see us.  They haven’t been gone for very long, but I miss them already.

Maybe next time they should stay longer.

I would be cool with that.

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage…

I am so behind in blogging that it is hard to know where to start.  So, we’ll just start at the beginning.  Last month we drove to California for my Uncle’s wedding.  I love weddings and this one was so much fun.  The weather was amazing.  The venue was beautiful.  And hanging out with tons of family members was the best.

One of my favorite moments of the day was the Lion Dance.  It was amazing.  I have never seen anything like it in person before.DSCN4113

We packed a ton into the day and a half we were there, but boy did we have a great time.  Now we just need Brent and Melinda to come out and visit us so we can hang out some more!

I Survived Girl’s Camp 2011

Last week I went to Girl’s Camp as one of the leaders for 35 twelve year olds.  I think it probably goes without saying that I was excited and yet a bit nervous about what I might encounter.  As soon as we pulled up to our campsite, I knew I would love it.  Talk about beautiful!

DSCN4895 DSCN4897 DSCN4916 DSCN4905 DSCN4891

We had fun hiking, crafting, going on snipe hunts, playing games, performing skits , and just getting to goof off with 35 of my favorite people.

They were a rad group of girls, and I would jump at the chance to go again with them.

Time Flies

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve sat down and updated the good ol’ blog.  Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to the last few weeks.

*Mark and I have been diving in head first into the world of gardening.  We talk about this garden more than just about anything.  We’ve built 8 garden boxes that are 5 X 10 feet and they are almost all ready for veggies.  If the rain and wind would stop, we could actually get the last of the dirt shoveled into them.DSCN3930 DSCN3932

*We planted seeds inside to get a head start on our garden.  My entire kitchen table is now completely covered in vegetable starts.  Maybe we went a bit overboard.  I am so excited to get them all planted soon.  Most of the time we eat at the bar anyways, but I miss my table.

*My niece and nephew had a sleepover here the other weekend.  We made a fort, colored, danced, went on a walk, watched a movie, and made cookies.  We all had a blast.  Even if they were both up by 6:00 am.DSCN3896

*Our yard now has sprinklers and hopefully we will hydro-seed the grass next week.  My fingers are totally crossed….I’m ready for some green!

*I’ve discovered that if I don’t go to Zumba for almost two weeks and then go back, it really hurts.  Note to self…..don’t ever do that again.

*I made strawberry freezer jam for the first time ever.  Holy cow, is it ever easy…and totally delicious.

DSCN3927

* I have been asked to go to Girl’s Camp this year.  I will be working with 4 other women and we are in charge of all the 1st year girls.  Man, oh man….5 days surrounded by about 30 twelve year old girls…it’s gonna be entertaining.

*Between work and our projects at home, life has been keeping both of us busy.  I don’t know about you, but I am beyond ready for this three day weekend!

Why I Love Living Here…

Well, this is just one small reason, but I think it is kind of awesome.  I love that there is a guy living here with this truck.

2011-04-15_09.40.15

I know it’s not the greatest picture….it’s from a cell phone and through a window.

But yes, you are counting right.  There are three doors on either side of the truck.  Now that is definitely what I would call an extended cab.

And rumor has it, that it set the fella back $350000.00.  Holy cow.

I Love Weddings

Many, many years ago I worked in the Young Women’s program in our ward.  Over the six years I worked with them, I grew to love these girls as if they were my own.  Seriously…they are awesome!  This weekend, Mark and I had the opportunity to go the the wedding of one of these girls. Jessica is one incredibly awesome chick and I am so glad Mark and I could be there on her special day.DSCN3855

Flowers!

They were colorful and beautiful.

And hopefully we’ll have some blooming here in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully.

The Incredible Edible Egg

Like most people this time of the year, we got together with my family and we dyed Easter eggs!  I used my sister’s kids as an excuse, but secretly….I was really excited to dye some as well.

DSCN3820

We jumped in and created some pretty amazing masterpieces….if I do say so myself.

DSCN3834

DSCN3829

Once they eggs were all decorated, we turned some of them in to dinosaurs.  Which, really made them the coolest eggs around.

DSCN3837

DSCN3839DSCN3838

We had a great time decorating and being all clever and crafty.  Now…If only Mark and I liked hard boiled eggs, it would be a whole lot easier to know what to do with three dozen of ‘em.  They may or may not have seen the garbage can once the night was over.
